About me

I live and work on the Bentley Wildfowl Estate. Throughout my adult life I have performed in physical theatre and contemporary dance, attained a BA Hons degree in Dance with Visual Practice, qualified as a therapist, and taught pilates for 20 years.

Throughout my work a passion for the human form has lead me to rediscover working with both clay and paint. I started working with clay when I was 16 in my school art classes. It was something of a eureka moment for me but it would be another 30 years before I begun sculpting again.

My work is constantly evolving. My sculpture explores the human form with a strong emphasis on movement, texture and colour. This same emphasis has been carried into my painting process albeit with less focus on the human form.

Artists who have inspired me

One of influences that has shaped my work is the late sculptor Brian Taylor. His work has always transfixed me with its powerful emotional and physical presence.

I love Emily Young’s beautifully haunting faces sculpted from different types of stone.

I’m drawn to the paintings of Elaine de Kooning, Lee Krasher and Joan Mitchell for their balance of colour movement and depth and Vincent Van Gogh for the extraordinary emotion in his paintings.
